BSA Troop 96 Ben Marsh Award Winners

Some young men are set apart from others by their ability to lead by example. One of the shining models of a leading by example in difficult times is Ben Marsh. Ben was a scout from Troop 96 who joined the U.S. Navy and was an Ensign aboard the battleship Arizona. Sadly, Ben was one of the first casualties of World War II, and because of his example of bravery and courage, our Troop has traditionally awarded an active Scout with the Ben Marsh Award that best reflects these characteristics.

A list of candidates will then be presented to the troop committee for review and for approval. Because of the award’s significance within the troop, there may not be any one individual that stands above the rest of his peers within the troop. In this case, the troop may not award this distinction until another year when there is an exemplary individual.
